So you're talking about the Adelaide anesthetist, Richard Harris.
He designed the plan in 2018 to sedate the boys so that the boys would be, I can't remember exactly from the documentary, but it was something around the fact that they had to have a stable enough heart rate and be able to be kind of manipulated through passages, right?
No.
And so there were actually two Aussie dive rescuers there.
It was Richard Harris and his dive partner, Craig Challen.
They were jointly named Australian of the Year in 2019 because of their work in this incredibly complex scenario.
Yeah.
And did you know he's actually also now the Lieutenant Governor of South Australia?
No.
Richard Harris.
So he's not in Laos at the moment, but there's been some reporting around the fact that he's potentially consulting and helping out with some of the strategy behind the mission.
But there are two other divers, the Norwegian diver Mikko Parsi and Norad said Palan Singh.
They were both involved heavily in the 2018 mission.
They are on the ground in Laos helping with this rescue.
Parsi said that there was this risk of bad air, and I didn't exactly know what that meant, so I did some digging into it.
And what he's referring to there is...
the carbon dioxide poisoning that both the villagers and the rescuers are at risk of because the air has been sealed off from the rest of the world.
It's such a tight seal caused by the landslide that the air in the cave itself is this kind of stagnant
with no airflow and carbon dioxide poisoning can occur.
And so there's these crazy risks.
