So they were figuring it out.
And so you have to give people the leeway to do that.
And what we know how to do in the Willamette Valley is Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay.
And then I would say that there's more things being experimented with.
Okay, so first thing, Mission Blind Tasting was a series that I was doing to study for a BMW program.
And I will bring it back, but I took my exam in June and I'm taking a brief hiatus.
And it goes into how to blind taste...
different varieties from different parts of the world that make what's considered a classic expression.
But what that means is you're shoving everything into boxes and you're like, this is what this tastes like from this area.
And that's not always the extent of what that region makes.
It might not even be the best expression that that region makes that's being pushed forward as the classic version.
So, for Oregon, and we can label Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio, I find that the reason that people label one way or the other is because they think that they make a more Alsatian expression or a more Italian expression.
And both are made.
So I think on the like light, bright, mineral, probably more fruity, more peachy than an Italian.
Not always.
There's variability, but generally a little bit more fruity.
But that expression with a little bit lower alcohol, there are examples like Ponzi.
Elk Cove and Sokol Blosser.
I would say those are classic and what people think of Oregon Pinot Gris.
