Hearing the words is important as a sort of ground base level, but I don't think forgiveness can really happen until you see the change and the action that's put behind it.
And not just for one week.
And this is where people go a bit wrong.
I think it's like, not just for one week, not just for two weeks.
Like we're talking several months.
Because it's very easy to be on good behavior for a few weeks.
So true.
And if you can't be on good behavior for even a few weeks, then this is like a dire situation.
This is like next level.
But most people can be on their good behavior for a month or two.
I think if we're getting up to sort of three to six months, that's actual behavior change.
consistent behavior change so important to get the actual I think to hear the other person be able to articulate to you that they're sorry but also that they understand the impact on you
It's one thing to say I'm sorry and it's another thing to be able to hear all the ways in which they can see they have impacted you.
That's important.
Then there would be that real showing the effort and consistency of like this is where and humbling themselves, you know.
It's like I understand that, you know, I'm not going to get the same privileges that I got before because I've hurt you and I have to work back to that place.
And if you need to ask me questions, I'm willing to be open.
I think to repair trust, actually, this is a big one I see a lot.
If the other person isn't willing to be fully open and put everything on the table, because you can get quite cagey.
Like if you've been caught doing something or lying or whatever, you can get quite cagey.
