You know, I vaguely remember that my dad did do Yankee conference football for Nesson, I believe.
Um, so we probably would have been on against each other and I'm sure it would have been competitive because one of the many things that I loved dearly about my dad was he's probably the most competitive person I've ever met in my life.
You know, the, uh,
and the best times we had together.
And most of the time that we spent together late in his life, we didn't know it was going to be late in his life because he died suddenly, fairly suddenly.
Um, but it was on the golf course.
You know, he loved, he, when I was a kid, he hated, he said he didn't want to play golf.
It wasn't a sport.
And then as he got a little older, he got into golf and then he became a passionate golfer.
But we played a lot of tennis, a lot of racquetball, uh, when I was a kid and there, he just loved to compete.
So, um,
I'm guessing we had more viewers because we were on this regional, semi-national network of PBS stations, which back in the beginning days in Essen, they were on in very few homes around New England.
That's obviously changed a lot since then.
Yeah, good question.
I'm sure, knowing our family, nobody else in the family watched any of them because they had better things to do.
But yeah, my dad...
He did an excellent job with that stuff too.
It was unusual for a writer, no offense, to be like the color commentator who's supposed to be a former player, a former coach.
But I think that's how much respect people had for my dad's football acumen was that he was given a role that typically wouldn't be given to somebody who was a sports writer.
It's funny, as you're rehashing it now, I still kind of get goosebumps revisiting it and thinking about it because it was quite a time.
