Before I knew it, there was thousands of Argentina fans just whipped off their jerseys and started waving them around in the air.
Just tens of thousands of jerseys being waved.
It was quite incredible.
I was doing a piece for the paper, obviously, as well.
After the game, Messi was in tears.
He was in loads of tears.
We've never seen him that...
that emotional before and I think it just tells you that he knew how close that was to being his final World Cup game possibly his final appearance for Argentina you could just see it in real time dawn on him how close he was to that being the end and you go from the depths of despair to just the most cathartic emotional release I'm sure you saw it on the TV he was thrown up in the air in the centre circle by his teammates and obviously they did a lap of honour and
the teams left then and I was writing away for another 15-20 minutes and finishing off the report and stuff and then I looked back up and there was maybe like 5,000 Argentina fans still there and the American security and stewards were trying their best to tell them to go home, tell them to get out and they were just having a right party.
Like, it was very funny that they were being told to go home, but they just kind of moved a little bit around the stadium where there was less stewards, you know.
So they must have stayed there for about, you know, 45 minutes after full time.
But it was just... It was...
Yeah, the most incredible thing, the most incredible game I've ever seen.
It'll be hard to talk for sure.
They are, it seems, in a very heightened emotional state, Argentina.
It is shown in the stands.
So they can see?
