So there's an instant reaction.
And Egypt were just absolutely furious.
I know their manager came out very, very, very strongly after it.
So, yeah, just that disallowed goal.
I know you touched on it with Gary.
Like, it feels...
It was probably the correct decision, but just football-wise, it just felt wrong, you know, so far before that it just denied such an amazing moment for them.
But, yeah, I suppose from an Argentina point of view, it was the second game in a row, the second knockout game they've needed to scrape through a second 3-2 win in a row.
So, like...
does that at this stage it's all about getting over the line yeah so doesn't matter maybe in the grand scheme of things it's all about just progressing and obviously with the quarter final now against Switzerland it is a tight enough turnaround so you're just kind of wondering how much that took out of them and even like emotionally I know the Swiss had their own penalty shootout drama as well but yeah just kind of
Just touching on the Argentina fans, it's been quite interesting here to just see firsthand how much they worship Messi.
Obviously, it's him and Maradona for them, but just everywhere you see us, even walking up to the stadium yesterday, wall-to-wall Messi jerseys, the hat scarves, and advanced sellers couldn't keep up with the demand.
It's just quite striking to see.
I'm not sure if...
like you're in europe is there the same yeah ronaldo okay but just it just feels like messy and just the argentina it's just on a different level even the team are kind of enthralled to him you know what i mean it's it's not just the fans it's like the whole the whole setup is around him yeah and just two points kind of to illustrate that uh i was talking a few fans after the game and obviously about the game and just just about messy and this guy takes my microphone off me and he goes uh
I love my wife, I love my kids first, Messi second, and my wife third, and he walks away, and I was like, I don't think his wife would be too happy with that, but just it's, he is a total god to them, and just the second point I thought, I was in the mixed zone, just to see how it was, and how Messi was, you know, there was,
huge huge demand for him obviously but um all the argentine players walking by they're all wearing like messy branded runners which i thought was was quite fun i don't know if you know his like his he used to have a retro like gold logo with an m um they're all walking by in the messy runners i just thought that was kind of kind of interesting there was other kind of
Yeah, I'm not sure if professionalism goes out the window for some other people sometimes, but yeah, there was other journalists there trying to get messy shirts signed and trying to not bother and even ask him a question, just trying to get a selfie with him as he walked by with his six, seven bodyguards.
So yeah, it's not even the fans who are enthralled with him.
It's, you know, work and media as well, which I thought was quite, yeah, quite, it wouldn't be me anyway, trying to ask for a signed shirt in a mix zone.
