It was in my first two years of Congress.
We passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
We passed chips and science.
We passed a large investment in our veterans who were the victims of burn pits in these two wars.
We passed the first gun safety bill in 30 years.
Heck, we passed the largest clean energy bill in human history.
And in that was the prescription drug thing where we capped the cost of prescription drugs.
If I were to go back and have all of those things in one hand and the two voting rights bills,
And Supreme Court reform and things that would broaden the democracy, you know, take, for instance, D.C.
statehood.
I think I might take those things over all of those bills, because what we're witnessing is if you don't save the democracy, you can have a runaway Supreme Court undermine all the progress that we've made, much of it bipartisan progress.
I talked to him a lot when we were engaged in it.
And let's be clear, we had all of the Dems were on this bill.
We just had two Democratic senators who were unwilling to
to make any change around the filibuster.
And again, we weren't trying to get rid of the filibuster.
What we were trying to do would have locked the Senate down for weeks and would have exacted a lot of pain out of both sides.
But we had two who were no longer in the Senate who were not willing to do what was necessary.
And those of us who came to that conclusion, we didn't come there lightly.
