when we've been so bad as an opposition because people rely on us to hold the government to account, right, which is just a politician's word thing.

But what it really means is making sure that they can't do crazy stuff and bad stuff that hurt people and hurt the country.

And I feel that our weakness has hurt the country because this government has been able to act with impunity.

I think we're now looking like we're actually going to be able to forge together some coherent policies and stop some of these bad things.

But I have to be honest.

If the opposition doesn't work, then the country really suffers.

Well, it's not a dirty word.

I think so many people who are in small business, whether they be in a startup or a tech startup or whether they be a psychologist or whether they be a milk bar owner or whether they be software with a service or whatever they are,

they all live the enterprise dream every day.

They know what they're doing.

I think they've come out of the woodwork very effectively after the budget.

But the thing about small business is it's not mobilised.

Like big business and big unions, they're mobilised.

They've got big lobby groups.

They've got people walking around this building every day wearing out the carpet.

Small business people, they're just trying to do their job during the day, and nighttime they go home and do the government compliance.

They probably don't get to really see their partner or see their kids or walk the dog because they're working for the government when they get home.

The whole point of the Liberal Party initially was to give a voice to the forgotten people, right, the small business people.

And I feel that we could have done a much better job on that in the last few years than we are starting to now.

But, I mean, we love business.
