So now I needed to understand the new vocabulary.

I needed to understand how to distill what I was trying to say with my work into words, which, you know, is the sort of comical crux of being an artist.

We're the only people that are told like, hey, could you make it visual?

Yeah, sure.

Let me throw down 300 words on it for you and magically didact out of my brain what it is I'm trying to say in my work that I'm maybe not even sure of all the time or haven't figured out yet.

I think I had done a couple of residencies and the residencies pushed me back into like working jobs.

I don't think anyone in either cohort of either residency was working as much as I was, but I also hadn't had the opportunity to work like that in decades.
