Well, we'll make our way up Queen Street.
So we are not far from AUT and the Auckland Art Gallery and we are looking at what used to be a female toilet.
So do you know roundabouts when this opened?
Oh lovely!
So you would just be walking to the art gallery and would probably be smelling whatever people were putting down.
But I would feel, I'm not going to lie, it does look a little dodgy going downstairs under the road into a toilet.
And is there any reason that it was a woman's toilet that was underground?
Like were men's toilets also put underground?
For us, if I'm looking at it right now, it's kind of randomly placed in the city.
Would it have been randomly placed back then?
Could they be used again today?
Like, could we open them up?
Less than a two-minute walk from the underground toilet, air raid shelters are built into the hill that Albert Park sits on.
One of the doors to get into the tunnel is on Kitchener Street, where we head towards next.
So we've come down to High Street, away from some of the busy water blasting that's going on here, the air raid shelters.
How long did it take to build something like that?
Wow.
And how deep underground are these tunnels even to begin with?
Which is quite a distance.
