Neil Burrell, a research fellow at the University of Auckland, will be presenting his Grubs in the Pub talk.
I'm gonna be honest.
I read your little blurb about your pub lecture.
Don't know how keen I am to eat bugs.
What do you think it is about people's hesitation towards eating bugs? 'Cause I feel like, you know, we have animals that live outside and they roam the pastures and eat grass and all that sort of thing.
Why do you think people are so hesitant to try insects?
So why did you choose this particular topic as your pub lecture?
So should people be expecting uh insects to be on the menu to accompany their bear as they sit and listen to your lecture at the pub?
I love that.
B Y O B bring your own beer and bugs.
And so when you say bugs should be more on the menu, are you kind of meaning incorporating them into dishes or just eating them straight up?
What's been your favourite insect that you've tried?
Oh, I don't know how I feel about poppin' the mouth sensation.
I know.
You mentioned in the blurb that it could help address food security.
Is this something that we need to start doing more regularly?
Like eating insects?
Now if bugs aren't your thing and no one would blame you if they weren't, you could go see Martin Wilkinson, a professor of politics and international relations at the University of Auckland.
His topic, whether a nanny state knows best when it comes to public health, and how we can find a balance between looking after people's health and not being too restrictive.
Here's Martin.
