The morning after pill or the or or also like the contraceptive pill, where someone that's healthy and uninfected takes tablets, and that's called pre exposure prophylaxis or PrEP.

And we've known for a while, there's a lot of studies looking at PrEP in different circumstances amongst gay men, amongst heterosexual couples, and the results vary a bit, but overall they do benefit tra they do reduce PrEP does reduce transgression.

Now how countries are using PrEP is quite variable.

In Australia for example, we haven't had PrEP available.

We've got pilot projects where where where we are evaluating the best situations in which to use PrEP.

Uh and then the third way is not something is is something that's been around for a long time which is called post exposure prophylaxis or PEP, where that is like the morning after pill where you have an exposure and you get treatment with an anti HIV drugs within seventy two hours, take them for a month and it reduces your risk of transmission.

And then again in Australia we've had that um available now for many years.

Uh that that that is a concern that has been a concern.

It hasn't really played out.

I think the the the concerns more are around adherence.

So you've got to take the tablets every day to help them work and when you're perfectly well young man, you don't feel like taking a tablet every day.

And is also suggesting that there may be some adverse events from the tablet.

So I think that's more of an issue.

Resistance hasn't played out to be a big problem.

Yeah, they've um developed a point of care test.

What is that what is point of care?

Point of care means on the spot, basically.

On the spot test for how well your immune system's functioning in the presence of HIV.
