But when you're having to compete with what other people are telling you versus what people in your inner circle are telling you.
It's really hard.
So being able to talk to a professional that's a bit fitter kind of levels the playing field a little bit where it feels like less of attack an attack.
And then you're also getting the expertise of someone who's an expert in that field, which might be able to overcome how some people feel about what their trainers are saying.
So I would be interested
in knowing what are some of the common
issues that you run into in terms of the types of bits people are using, the fit of them, like what are some of the most common struggles you see horses ha facing because of the equipment that's been selected by the people?
Yeah, gag bits are definitely especially in like the hunter jumper world or like show jumping specifically.
They're like basically the go-to thing for when you're having a horse run through your AIDS.
So you kind of covered it where you're talking about the the conflicting pressure with the lip pressure and the pole, but for people who aren't familiar with bit mechanics, cause you talk about how the shank interacts to make a bit harsher than let's say like a snaffle where it's direct action, just for people who aren't familiar with that.
they they d they a lot of people think that they are technically a leverage bit.
So I'm glad that you touched on that 'cause that's one that is like such a contentious topic.
Um, it that I hear a lot of people thinking that they are um
that they they do create a leverage effect.
Oh for sure.
So I guess another question I would have is what would you say like if you had to recommend like one bit as your go to bit for like anatomical fit and just general kindness to the horse?
I know that like all of them vary, but like what would be your kind of baseline most recommended bit type that you see yourself um talking to clients about?

And then w as a bit fitter, like how often do you find like when you're um looking at horses for bit fittings that there's like any oral damage from the bits or like obviously it would have to be like outwardly visible 'cause there can be damage to the boat the bars of the mouth that you can only see via X ray.
