Um, but how how often do you find that you're seeing stuff like that?
That's I'm glad she ended up s like with a soft landing because that's so sad to have that amount of damage done.
I can only imagine what types of bits she was having put in her mouth.
Oh, for sure.
I think that's the thing.
Like bits the ethical issue that I see a lot of people talking about, like especially people who go where they are become anti bit.
I think a lot of it stems from the fact that bits are often used as the solution to a problem instead of looking at where the problem stems from.
And in some cases, like as a trainer
There's been cases where the equipment that people are using is just so unacceptable for that particular horse that it actually is the equipment that is causing the problem, which is usually the case with harsher types of equipment.
But a lot of times the behavioral issues are actually stemming from something else and then they're using a bit as a band-aid to try to get rid of certain behaviors and then we see that a lot with like show horses where their desire is to just get the horse to stop running through the bridle so that they can jump it around a course and then they feel compelled to bit up when really it's a training issue or it's an anxiety issue.
And it's something that goes deeper than just the equipment.
And I think that's where marketing wise it's so lucrative because if you can promise people an instant fix where it's like, hey, if you get this miracle type of bit, all of your horse's problems will be solved and you don't have to spend the money or the time
looking deeper into things and then people get sucked into that mindset.
So I do think a lot of it stems down to people trying to make money with bit businesses.
Um, especially like like I I find professionals choice as a company with the bits that they sell and the marketing language they use for their stuff to be particularly predatory for people who are seeking solutions.

Just by how they describe certain types of bits.
Like another barrel racer that I I've seen um selling really harsh
bit rigs, um, would be Britney Pausey and I'm pretty sure she's partnered with Professionals Choice.
Um but it it's the same type of thing as what you're saying with Martha Josie, where it's someone who's been highly successful in their field and has won lots of money and then they're using their name to market something where people are they trust them and they believe what they're saying about the mechanics and then they buy it to try to fix a problem when
