be another really controversial question, but with um signal bits
in terms of fitting into the mouth of the horse and also just like western bits in general that have a lot of high ports.
Um, what's your perspectives on that and the being able to ethically fit them to the mouth of the horse?
Oh, absolutely.
It like I I believe that as well.
Like the difficult thing with postmortem dissections is that people can argue that the differences we're seeing are related to the horse being dead and that it wouldn't be present in a living horse.
However, we have enough living examples, especially if we look at what's happened to modern dressage with how the horses are moving and how they're coming through from behind.
And I think that it's th there's enough evidence that it's a
plausible hypothesis to have that like too much bit pressure does influence how they can use their hind end and how their whole body interacts.
Um and
ultimately, yeah, limits their athletic potential. 'Cause I do think h horses are incredible athletes and a lot of times we see them being highly successful and athletically amazing in spite of what people put them through, not because of it.
They manage to overcome so many hardships, discomforts, and move through
l on it lamenesses a lot of times or f at at bare minimum physical problems that in theory should limit them, but they are successful despite that.
And
I think that's something that we often
miss with horses where there's this idea that because they are capable of doing these things, it must be fine, it must be achieved ethically, and the horse must be at their best, because if they weren't, they wouldn't do it.
But it's simply untrue.
Like horses are incredible athletes, even when they're in pain.
Yeah, Be Bex Nairns work, I don't know if you followed her stuff, the dissections, it's been really eye opening where some of the things that she's found er it's just unfathomable when you look at the level that the horse is performing at in life.
And what she's doing is such important work, but it's also very hard to look at 'cause I can imagine how much guilt there would be involved, especially for people who are having their personal horses dissected.
