that they don't actually develop a real sense of self.

And for most like certified horse girls, like horses are such a huge part of our identity that when that identity is then taken within the horse world and skewed to something that wasn't what it was when you first started seeking connection with horses, then you get lost and you're unmoored.

Cause like I went through a huge ego death when I started studying horse behavior because yeah,

the way my mind works, I'm a very logic, logical person.

And like listening to science, it makes sense to me.

And I didn't want to believe it at first because I was like, okay, wait, if I acknowledge what this means, then it means that like the way I've been doing things, there's very little likelihood that my horses actually enjoy training.

And it's been very forceful and this and that.

And if this is what horse stress behavior is, it means virtually every horse I've ever worked with has been chronically stressed.

So, um,

At first I was like, this can't be true.

And I tried to find ways to deny it.

But then like the more I studied, I was like, okay, like this makes sense.

And I was like deeply uncomfortable with it.

So I was like, I can't continue down this path.

But then at the same time, it's like, okay, now all my goals are falling apart because I thought I wanted to be an upper level professional and train horses for competition and be showing the circuit.

And then now I've realized I was like, I could not think of anything that I would hate less than

flying around the country and hauling my horses to and fro to different places to go compete for the week.

That sounds like a personal hell to me, especially how much you have to pay to go do that.

But then when you shift that and you own it, especially publicly, people are threatened by that because they view it as a personal attack.
