Yes.
You know, as a journalist, I like to think that I have my finger on the pulse, but I was, you know, I went in thinking it was a toss-up.
And, you know, I've been seldom surprised by Kansas voters on these issues.
And it's also a rare moment where it's a yes or no vote on a single issue, as opposed to in November when all of these candidates who wanted to ban abortion got reelected by larger margins even in some cases.
I think when you're voting on a candidate or choosing between candidates, there are a lot of issues that voters are thinking about.
This was a rare moment of clarity.
Do you support this yes or no?
And of course, following that vote, the legislature responded by respecting the will of the people and leaving this alone, right?
Right.
The legislature, you know, has just continued to pass almost relentlessly attack after attack after attack on reproductive health care in defiance of that vote.
This year, we saw a couple of new bills come out, one dealing with the abortion pill reversal, which we know is junk science.
This had been struck down by courts before.
The legislature kind of running an end around here says instead of making the abortion care providers provide misinformation, we'll have the state provide the misinformation.
Just kind of an attempt to wiggle around a court ruling on that.
And there's some other policies that they bundled into a couple of other bills along the way.
What do you make of the legislature's willingness to continue to hammer this issue despite what we saw in that 2022 vote?
