You might, depending on what the next economic system in the game looks like, you might have some different pressures and stresses and buyers in the market.

And so this gets you an ace-caliber pitcher that you can pair with Dylan Cease.

You have club control on him through the 2028 season.

And that's a big piece of off-season work that you've gotten done.

At the same time, it allows you to keep pushing in 2026 as well.

So the trade of Kevin Gosman, it obviously hurts, but that's an expiring asset.

with no ability to extend him a qualifying offer because he's already had one from the giants which he accepted uh and so uh that was definitely an expiring asset asset you return a couple pieces back in the farm system for that and you have a now somebody to pair with dylan cease moving forward so i think this is the uh maybe the higher end example of what the blue jays hope to do at this deadline in terms of both buying and selling while repositioning themselves for the future

in the immediate future as opposed to a longer term future.
