Although Robbie Ray was also very good for the Mariners and later the Giants.

So it was important from that aspect, the performance aspect,

that's obvious and the steadiness.

And, you know, in a lot of ways, Kevin Gosman over, over those five years, he, he reminded me of the best of, you know, like Rota Halliday's professionalism, you know, Mark, Mark Burley's just,

engaging personality and consistency and J-Hap's steeliness.

And those are three of the pitchers from recent Blue Jays history that you really look at and kind of say, you know, these guys were about everything you wanted the franchise to be about.

And Gosman became that as well during his time.

So incredibly impactful, incredibly emotional for a lot of people because of just how much he's meant to this group in so many ways.

And you can understand why this was difficult for a lot of people to accept.

So in terms of what they like, a couple key elements that they tend to like in their hitters, right, is good plate discipline and strong contact ability.

It's really high for both those guys.

They also both have a speed element.

And, you know, these aren't guys who are necessarily going to be driving the ball to the outfield there necessarily.

you know, like similar ish in like in approach wise with to say Chandler Simpson, where, you know, they're trying to get the ball low on the ground, shooting, shooting for holes and trying to use speed to, to their advantage.

So, you know, it's,

The Blue Jays generally feel like if they have that type of player, they can work with them to try and increase exit velocity and help them drive the ball and then maybe get a little bit more out of that skill set.

But the contact gives those types of players a high floor.

Bateman's also a good defender in the outfield, a center fielder, and that's an area of need.

So there's a pathway for him to come in and play in the relatively near future.

He's at AAA right now, or was in AAA with the Cubs, and presumably will be going there as well with the Blue Jays once he's assigned.
