The good news is we've arrested the decline and it is improving and there's a lot of work underway to keep that progress, but there's no simple answer to it.
Yes, we need to make it easier to see a GP and that's what we've just done through big uplifting funding for GPs, reweighting capitation.
We've got it more urgent and after our care sites open.
A new 24-7 urgent care in South Auckland is taking pressure off Middlemore Hospital.
So that's one end of the picture.
We need to make sure our hospitals are
working efficiently.
We also need to make sure that our elderly patients are able to have access to aged care.
And so recently we did a deal with the aged care providers around supporting more weekend discharges of patients who are going into an aged care.
And that frees up beds for Monday, which is generally one of the busiest days in a hospital.
So there's no single simple solution.

There is many, many things that need to be done.
We are focusing on all of them.
The good news is the decline that we saw under the
government has stopped.
We're now seeing improvement year on year, quarter on quarter, and we're continuing to focus our resources on the front line where it matters to get people seen quicker.

That's what we're putting a significant amount of money into.
