The cost of not doing them is that people in Middle Ireland actually find themselves worse off.
and find themselves paying more tax and find themselves, God, if I do those few hours of extra time, overtime, excuse me, or if I get a promotion or if my wages rise, and wages are rising in Ireland, the taxman ends up taking more.

Social welfare is important.
