E-scooters kind of arose as a thing for a different agenda, for sustainability, climate, congestion.
Somebody living in an apartment and trying to go two kilometres into work or whatever is a way of getting about the place.
It's a far cry from that now.
And they're extraordinarily dangerous.
They're having a real road safety impact.
They're having a real health service impact.
And we have to act.
We're not applying that.
We're not considering that at the moment.
I just, quite frankly, don't think it's administratively possible.
But look, I think the direction of travel is clear here.
While we're not talking about an outright ban right now,
we are talking about a regulatory system that I think will make the attractiveness of an e-scooter very, very significantly diminished.
So it will be the ownership of the e-scooter will be able to be tracked by Angarda Siocona and I want to see that fine linked to the parent.
There has to be an issue of parental responsibility here, quite frankly.
I mean, the government can change all the laws we want.
At the end of the day, if your 14-year-old kid is going on an e-scooter, who gave him the e-scooter?
Who bought the e-scooter for them?
We have to actually start.
Like, there has to be a wake-up call here.
