You know, I wouldn't say that they've hijacked these rites of passage.

They've just taken them on.

I know what you're saying, yeah.

I mean, but I can appreciate like, you know, it would make sense for religions to have rites of passages as well that already existed.

And we've seen that in lots of ways.

But, you know, I think if you look at most communion celebrations today, the religious aspect of it tends to be quite, quite small.

And all the stuff around of it, you know, the family, the community coming together, celebration presents, all that sort of stuff.

I think that's what a kind of a, let's say, a non-religious rite of passage would be.

And I think there's, you know, a number of

organizations that are sort of having secular alternatives to communions and even baptisms.

You have naming ceremonies and stuff like that for weddings.

You have civil marriages.

But so similarly, I think, you know, if people want to get in on the act of, you know, age of reason ceremonies and things like that, you know, so be it and no harm in it.

I think, you know, whatever people's beliefs are or lack of them, you know,

If they want to have a ceremony to celebrate some sort of milestone, well, you know, that's absolutely fine.

I guess my issue in a way is that because 95% of schools in Ireland are run by religious bodies, it puts a layer which complicates things and forces people maybe to do things that are not within their own beliefs.

And that's quite problematic to me.

Yeah.

And I think, look, if you look at Christianity as a faith, it is an evangelical faith.

I mean, the idea is that you spread the good news of Jesus Christ to people.
