Oh, I have a really good question here.

Someone said Hi Sim, is it better to buy a home or to rent Vest?

Now for those that may not know, there's a couple of options when it comes to choosing housing.

It's a lot more common, I've noticed, in bigger cities, where if you're like, let's say you're a couple or you're a single gal and you're like, you know what, it's time for me to buy a home, you start looking in your area and you're like, damn, these homes are kind of expensive.

And if the home that I can't afford is like either super far out,

you know, away from your job or

they're very like small, cramped homes, what do you do?

Especially because we've grown up being taught like save, save, save, buy a house, don't rent, rent is like wasted money.

And to be honest, like that is how I've grown up as well.

What some people do, especially young professionals, and I think it is so smart, is they do this thing called rent vesting, where they take a home that is further out, that is in their price range that they can't afford, and they buy it, but they don't live in it, they buy it to rent it.

And so now they have some of their money invested in property, they're using leverage to build their wealth slowly over time.

And they're having someone pay down their mortgage slowly and slowly, like chipping away at it.

And at the same time, they choose to rent in a more desirable area.

Maybe it's closer to work.

Maybe it's more hip and popular.

And by doing that, they can live in a house that is so much nicer than what they could afford.

But they're not just wasting quote unquote wasting their money away on rent because they still have that investment property elsewhere.

So to decide if you should own or if you should rent vest, there are really pros and cons of both options.

By rent vesting, at least you're on the property ladder.
