And once the market cannot afford to spend that, the costs start to flatten out.
So renting is probably a really good example of this.
Let's say town A has
rent that is three hundred dollars a week.
Okay, that's not too bad.
And the salaries of the people that live there are very normal salaries.
They're teachers, they're doctors, they're lawyers, they're, you know, working nine to five jobs.
And then the salaries continue to stay the same because we're in a recession.
But the rent goes up to four hundred dollars a week in a couple of years.
These people are pulling back on other areas of their life, but they can still pay their rent.
Then it goes up to five hundred dollars a week.
And then suddenly, when it goes up to $500 a week, there's less people that can afford this in an area where maybe they are like, you know what, I let's just move out, let's move somewhere else.
And some other people come in, wealthier people come in, and an area starts to get gentrified and the rent keeps rising.
Then it goes to like $700 a week.
Like it just goes out of control.
Now at this point,
Very few people can afford renting in this area.
And so they've kind of reached the ceiling of how much people can spend on rent.
And so the tenants go, Nope, I genuinely cannot do this.
Like this isn't even like, oh, I'll cut down on coffee or eating out.
