You wanna do gymnastics, no problem.
You wanna do horse riding, you wanna do ball, you wanna do soccer, you wanna do rugby swimming, all of these things.
So
they had super Tuesdays where they had four activities in a row and they they weren't used to being at home.
You know, peop uh most families had that kind of a life at some stage.
Kind of mid primary school is usually when it peaks.
Um and they're not used to having nothing to do and they need to learn that they have permission to rest and permission to do nothing and it's okay to to rot effectively so that they don't feel the guilt for it either and they can learn how to do it but also learn that they have permission.
Well what I normally do at mine at the start of a school holiday or something like that, I'll say, Well, what are you gonna do if you're bored?
And one year we wrote a board list
Um and I have my counter list that I think I've spoken to you about before, which is the list of jobs
Mm.
And if you tell me you're bored, I have two standard responses.
One of them is well look at the list of jobs.
And the second one is, um, you know, you're coming to a fifty year old woman looking for any ideas how to entertain a teenager, you know, come on, I'm not the entertainment officer here.
What are you gonna do about it?
And let them have ownership for well if you feel bored, what could you do?
And let them try and come up with something sneaking ownership for it and they know how to solve the problem themselves the next time.

So my eldest does.
He's got a job the last year and a half.
My middle is turning 16 in September and a lot of places don't take kids until they're 16.
