you know, vast medical cross-hospital, cross-jurisdiction.
I mean, it's the Arts Council, which manages projects.
So the 3 million euros that it was supposed to spend was halted at around 6 million euros, unfinished.
So again, you know, we spent nearly double and got none of what we needed.
Yeah.
And, you know, it's funny because I've kind of spent a long time thinking about these problems in Ireland.
And in fact, I used to sit on the board of the Irish Museum of Modern Arts.
And so I've kind of seen some of these issues play out firsthand.
And then I myself got involved with trying to do some very small and what should have been very easy reforms in Ireland to kind of play around with this problem myself and to get a look on
inside of the system and see what actually happens when all of the incentives are aligned and you kind of, you know, everyone is sure to want this reform to happen.
Why is it not happening or why is it stalling?
Right.
So in Ireland we are enormously, again going back to public transport, we are enormously reliant on cars, which was a fatal policy error we made many years ago.
So there is a massive car lobby in Ireland.
However, even the one big lobby in Ireland is for road safety.
So here you have vested interests that are actually aligned with what should be government mandates.
And yet, and yet, I have wrapped, well, I've been unable to wrap my head around this for multiple months.
And I have tried nearly everything to reform this and kind of pulling my sleeves up and getting involved with the politicians and with the lobbies and with the 10 million different people that are involved in Irish road safety.
and realizing that it's impossible to do because no one has the mandate to do it.
And this kind of leads to the much bigger example I gave in my piece around slant checker.
