So my mother has three older sisters.
So my Auntie Mary is very much an older sister, and if anyone listening has an older sister, you'll know what they're like.
So she took charge of things.
She cleaned the house.
She welcomed visitors.
Actually, I found out years later when I was speaking to my oldest sister, Lisa, that she came back to the house when my mother and father had gone away.
They went away to Singapore after Rani died.
My dad thought it would be good for mum to go away for a while.
And my auntie Mary showed up at that time and she said to my sister Lisa, okay, now we have to clean out the bedroom.
we have to take everything out of here and pack it all up and put it away while your mum's away.
And so my eldest sister did that with my Auntie Mary.
Two eldest sisters banded together to take charge of a situation.
The next eldest sister, whose name is Mona, and she is a wild and woolly woman.
She came and she's a very spiritual person.
She's connected to...
all the loving forces in the world, and all she did was pray.
I remember her holding me and praying.
And she, my Auntie Mona, has lived for a long time up in the Torres Strait and in North Queensland, and she always wears these big muumus with hibiscus flowers on them, and she's worn them a hundred times.
