But to see somebody who was so vital and so full of life and always busy, reduced to a wheelchair and unable to do anything for herself.
I mean, she says to me, can you put my sweater on?
And I have to push her arm through.
Yeah.
You know, she's 83, she's nearly 84, and it's awful to watch.
And that did, seeing her first in hospital three years ago when she first had her knee replacement and seeing her in hospital and watching her, it went wrong and she had all kinds of other issues and she couldn't push herself up like that from her bed.
And it just made me think, am I strong?
Have I got any upper body strength?
You tried to do a push-up, didn't you?
I literally threw myself on the hospital floor, tried to do a press-up and I could only do one.
And I wasn't, you know, I had strong enough legs, but as it turns out, not nearly as strong as they needed to be.
And I couldn't even do a press-up, that was it.
And that really did push me to go to the gym.
And
It is very different.
My mum's 26 years older than me.
I have no idea if what I do now, and some of it is quite extreme, but I have no idea if what I do now will sort of future-proof me or not.
But I'm definitely really enjoying finding out.
There's a woman
in my gym who's 81 and she's in there doing you know we get we're doing the barbell she does them too she just has lighter lighter weights but she goes in there she goes in there twice a week and she's in the gym and she's absolutely amazing and I just think well I want to be doing that too and I think you know our generation getting older is
