Back then, these guitar shop owners had zero respect for actually receiving a thousand views on a specific guitar.

That search kind of, we wanted to show up when people search for that.
And we were massively successful in going from zero to six digit numbers in organic traffic every month.
But that business still went bankrupt a few years after I left.
And the problem was that it's not enough to be successful with organic search.
You need to produce business outcomes with the traffic.
We really, really managed to do well in terms of building up a lot of traffic for this website.
And it still bothers me today that we didn't make it a success.
But what was not working was our ability to focus our attention on the pages that were actually producing revenue.
So we built up a lot of great, what do you call it nowadays, but interest in the website itself.
But the business part of the website just didn't work out.
And as I said, it haunts me today.
And that's kind of why I'm so interested in this topic of trying to understand what you could call attribution.
