So most of my, you know, I'll put together kind of a phrase or a clause when I'm on the bus or when I'm actually cooking, like the kind of percussive quality of chopping an onion has been really good, like meeting out a sentence.
Start a compost heap.
Well, which I actually mean literally, you know, like the onions I'm chopping put into the compost and it, or like have a, try and have a garden, even if it's just like growing something on your windowsill, because it really gives you an appreciation for the time it takes things to grow.
And also when you're making compost, everything is nourishing.
Everything is feeding into it in one way or another.
You'll just kind of reap the benefits at different times.
So I think...
I mean, I just, I have a lot of things I do which are not writing, but which feed back into my writing practice.
And so, you know, I'm a very enthusiastic, but not very capable gardener, hence the gardening analogy, but also I'm a school teacher.
And I think that,
that's been such an amazing lesson in a trusting the intelligence of your readers and your students you know not babying them but also breaking things down and making sure that what you're communicating is you are doing so effectively so either become a teacher or talk to a teacher or talk to a teenager about English and how they're being taught English at the moment and
whether they like it, what's working for them.
And I think you will learn some very valuable lessons.
