I don't know how true that is.
So the pressure was on to produce a sequel.
They did their Frankenstein sequel really quite quickly.
And then they had to produce a sequel to Dracula.
But unfortunately, Christopher Lee refused to appear as Dracula.
He feared typecasting.
quite understandably.
So they were in the delicious position of having to make a Dracula film without Dracula.
And that's what they did.
It was originally called The Disciple of Dracula because it's about a rather prissy young barren minster who is kept
captive by his mother, who's played by Martita Hunt, rather brilliantly, actually.
And there's a young French teacher who encounters him and frees him from incarceration, only to be
only to release him on the countryside and for him to wreak awful, bloodthirsty revenge.
It's actually a mess.
I have to confess, I chose this film purely aesthetically.
It looks brilliant, but the script is an absolute dog's dinner.

More holes than the doily.
It really doesn't bear any kind of examination, but it's good looking.
