So the recruiting turnaround started under the Biden administration.
They created these pre-basic training courses.
Say you want to enlist in the military, you come up a little bit short on that academic entrance exam, or maybe you're uh just a few pounds over what they want.
They will send you to uh Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and over the course of a couple weeks teach uh recruits about nutrition, teach them about working out, or for the academic side, some tutoring, and then after a couple of years.
couple of weeks they'll get an opportunity to qualify for enlistment and move on to basic training.
And that is where a quarter of army recruits come from right now.
Right, and hexath rhetoric, which some people found alarming with comments about women's place in the military,
Minorities in service and uh he's echoed a lot of sentiment that the military has almost divine right to intervene in world affairs, that is definitely carried on to people currently in the service.
If the rhetoric doesn't quite make its way to people outside, it's definitely making its way inside.
I've talked to plenty of people and continue to in the Pentagon around the commands around the military, and there's a lot of concern about what's coming out of the Pentagon and how some of this rhetoric might affect certain groups moving forward.
The military is becoming increasingly diverse.
The Marine Corps, for example, a a quarter of it is uh
Hispanic and you know, we've been talking about recruiting issues, but almost that entire dip a few years ago was almost entirely male.
Women have been enlisting at roughly uh the same volume for over a decade and they're more likely to qualify for service uh than young men, being less likely to uh suffer from some sort of obesity and more likely to perform good on those academic tests.

We say, Hey, we're we're running out of munitions, we could be emboldening Iran to uh launch against us.
Right now the uh official count of uh US troops killed and wounded in Iran is uh eighteen killed and six hundred and eighty-nine wounded.
