Absolutely.
I think he knew that.
He respected it.
He appreciated it.
But he didn't go out and trumpet it.
If somebody wanted to bring his attention, congratulations to him.
He didn't have to sell it.
He didn't have to talk about it.
He didn't have to elevate himself about that.
It would come to him.
He was acknowledged.
He never said no about talking about it.
But Bill, you know, he's a bright guy.
Bill Mazeroski had more substance.
But because he didn't talk a lot, people said, gee, I wonder what he's like.
Bill Mazeroski was a smart guy.
He had that gut, good intelligence, that logic, that understanding, that perspective.
And he knew what that did for the city.
He had an appreciation for that, a respect, absolutely.
Because I was with him enough times where I got that feel.
