Um, there was a little bit of a political transition going on, so other people got involved, but I think Turkey was probably the main guy because he had known uh there were some other uh intelligence officers, the the Badib brothers who knew Assama as well.
Everybody got on board and tried to go meet with him.
They sent Bucker out there.
Bucker was the person, the leader of the bin Laden company at this stage, Osama's half-brother, Buckar bin Laden.
He was the guy who had the most, um, who the Saudi royal family had the most leverage over because he had all the contracts.
So they would be telling him, look, if you want to do business with us, you got to shut this guy up.
And Bucker went out there and tried, he brought members of
The family who we thought Osama was more sympathetic to than to himself.
None of it worked.
And Osama, again, I think the more he settled into Sudan and he built up this sort of ecosystem of businesses and contracts and farms and homes and family, the more he thought that he should be leading the bin Laden family.
So he was resistant to his brothers, not just on ideological grounds, but I think also in some kind of personal or family sense.
Throughout his life, he never really denounced his brothers.
Um, he blamed the Saudi royal family for putting them in an impossible position.
They were doing what the Saudi royal family required them to do.
He didn't make it personal in any of his public statements or any of the private statements that I was able to come across.
I don't think he was a great pal of Buckers.
He he thought he would be do he would do a better job, but family.
First for the bin Ladans like a lot of other Saudis.
And he wasn't going to expose, he wasn't going to fall into the trap of having the Saudi royal family split him from his brothers.
And in fact, when he's stripped of his holdings in the company, his share, he sells it to a brother, half-brother, who is sympathetic to his ideology.
