So this single paper really launched the PAPS Mirror, which really has been one of the most successful cancer screening interventions, or maybe the most in medical history.
It shifted oncology away from reactive treatment to proactive prevention.
And it cut cervical cancer mortality rates by over 70% in developed nations.
Of these old books, and you read these case reports of these awful cervical cancers and where they invade and all of that.

There was also a Romanian researcher named Arl Babes, or Babes, who was doing similar research, interestingly, but both of them really were ridiculed by colleagues.
It was probably the kind of the clout that Trout had coming in the 1940s that really helped to lead in getting this paper published and the findings publicized.
