We've had a great little natter the last few minutes.
Haven't seen each other for years.
It's nice to catch up.
oh gosh look i'm not gonna um give julie a big head here but julie van was always amazing from the from the underage squads all the way through she you know she went over above on the pitch anything you wanted she she she did and yeah she's just an amazing player to coach and what a talented player as well and you know did great for the irish team so she can be very proud of her career and i was very proud to coach her julian you might have to return the compliment here
Yeah I think so and as Judy said like what an amazing first half we had and you know we went toe-to-toe one of the best teams in the world and we were the better team in that first half and you know the scoreline didn't flatter us we could have been a couple more goals ahead I thought the game plan was implemented perfectly and we were compact in defence we cut out those spaces centrally we forced them wide where there weren't any spaces obviously the pitch being narrowed helped but we also had bodies around the ball doubled up and just didn't give them a sniff really
But there was a lot of running done in that first half.
Fouls were so quick.
Every time they got a free or a throw in, they took it so quick.
They didn't take a second and they really were running at us and trying to move us any time they could.
And in the second half, I think certainly around the 62nd, 65th minute, you know, I could see we were starting to flag a little bit in the middle of the park.
And I just thought maybe at that point, you know, 20 minutes into the second half, could we have made a couple of changes centrally?
Because definitely, you know, Megan Connolly was looking a bit fatigued.
and O'Sullivan have a little bit more energy and stuff but we were just starting to get a little bit overrun centrally I think and we also had a couple of players carrying knocks our two best players were carrying knocks I think Carla said that after the game she said McKay was only playing at 70-80%
And Denise O'Sullivan definitely hurt her knee in that first half, you know, so you also had that to add in.
So I could definitely see the tide turning a little bit.
Could we have made those changes?
You know, maybe in hindsight, Carla might look at it.
Could she have done something to get fresh legs in there?
But, you know, as Julianne said, they had two chances in the second half and I mean, they scored their goals, especially the first one was excellent.
It was just such a shame, you know, and I'm also devastated for the girls.
