You know, you can help mommy wash the dog or you can help daddy wash the car and give them tasks.
Sometimes children just need a little bit of direction and then they can go and play.
But you do not as parents need to be entertaining them all the time.
So if parents want to take their children out to activities, I always say do one day.
there may be two days rest.
One day out, the next activity, two days rest.
Because everybody needs a break.
And by us being their entertainment, we don't get a break.
And children need to see us having a break.
Yes, you do, unfortunately.
you know, and they have to see you.
And as I said, children need us to sometimes pull them into getting going.
So I would say to parents, okay, say to family, right, family, we have an hour each to be on our screen.
Everybody, everybody gets an hour right now and set an alarm clock, set the kitchen timer.
But once an hour is done, we're all going to go outside and we're going to do something, whether it's play soccer with your sibling and I'll watch you guys play soccer or it's,
you know, help mommy in the garden or, you know, we're going to go for a walk, but we're all going to do it.
When they feel that it's safe, when they feel it's fair that everybody's doing it, then they are more willing to put the screen down.
When they're just being told to put the screen down, but we're on the screen, that's when children get annoyed because it's not safe.
So I always say at the time, and children don't need a lot of our time,
But if they see that we're doing it or we're all going to read a book right now or, you know, you can read a book to mommy this morning for an hour and then I'll read a book to you tomorrow morning for an hour.
