You know, I always say tell children.

Tell children exactly that.

Tell children when the holiday starts, okay, guys, you know what, it's holiday time.

So you don't have homework.

So the afternoon, you maybe get an extra hour of screen time because you have no homework.

Okay, so they're already warned and they're already told what is happening.

There's predictability in it.

When it gets closer to the school term, you say, oh, look at the calendar.

We've got a week to go, guys.

So we are going to get back into our routine for schools.

So now instead of, you don't have homework, but you are losing an hour of screen time because I now need you to read for an hour for mommy.

We need to get back into the routine of school.

And when school starts, we are up and ready, guys.

And there is going to be moaning.

Nobody wants the holiday to end.

But if parents are firm in telling their children that this is what we're doing and we're not negotiating it,

And the children see that they can't push those boundaries, they quickly fall into it.

Because remember, I said that children do want that security, that routine, providing with that security, that predictability.

And it's just changing their mind frame and their little body clocks.
