They rule by fear and intimidation and they wipe out bank accounts and they threaten your life or your family's life.

The captain energy is an energy of confidence, sort of a quiet clarity.

And trust me, this is easier said than done.

I know.

I mean, I have a monthly membership program.

I do lots of online classes.

You and I have done classes.

This is a process, first of all, of unlearning what for many of us we inherited from our own upbringing, where parents were either lawyers or dictators most of the time.

And it's also looking inside ourselves to see what meaning we're making of what our child's doing or saying.

So if I have the story that he should accept no the first time I deliver it, or she shouldn't argue about every chore that I ask her to do, then I'll the little lawyers in my head will build a case and I'll notice that my heart rate is going up, my blood pressure.
