So that isn't the problem.
But what this uncertainty and this silence from Netball New Zealand is creating right now is just so much doubt
not only with the fans but with the players and the coaches, the managers, the umpires, all of those people who are intimately involved in this competition are all sitting there right now going, what is my future?
Will I have a job, even if it is a part-time job with netball, but will I have a job in 12 months' time?
What is happening?
And, yeah, the silence is deafening.
from netball and it's the players and the coaches and those people, the support people around them who really need to know whether there's a chance that there will be a competition next year because at the moment they've been told nothing.
Oh, it's having a huge effect.
I mean, you know, this is their bread and butter.
They play netball
not only because they love it, but it's a job for them.
And, you know, they may not be employed all year.
If you're a Silver Fern, you're pretty much able to survive with playing in the league and being a Silver Fern.
If you're not, you're having to find other work.
And the thing is, there is, of course, a lot of players who are now thinking, well, am I going to have to go and play overseas if I can't play here?
Right now, these competitions in Australia and in England, the Super Netball Leagues, they are currently making contracts with players.
So they're looking for players right now.
We saw this year that nine New Zealanders went over and played in the Suncorp Super Netball in Australia.
And in most cases, it seems to have been valuable for the players.
Some of them got injured.
