We had to pivot quickly to help our small businesses.
The good news was, is that because of the pandemic and the micro grants that we had stood up, we were able to really build relationships very quickly with a lot of these small businesses within the redevelopment areas.
In 2023 and 2025, as we started to come out of the pandemic and back to normal, we really started focusing on
getting knowledgeable and educated.
So we had several different market studies underway.
We had the grocery study.
We had the Fettler Park study.
And we were really focused on getting data and trying to understand.
We also did a retail inventory study looking at all of our shopping centers to figure out which ones were
healthy and which ones might be ripe for redevelopment.
But where are we going from here?
And this is what I want to talk to you about is 2025 and beyond.
We have a really good baseline understanding of what it would take to really make redevelopment happen.
And so we want to focus on how do we knock down those barriers and create opportunities for
a redevelopment toolkit and moving forward to make investment happen in Prince William County.
I wanted to include this slide because as Chris and Mr. Shorter had mentioned, the board has made a couple of directives, one of which is only directly associated, says redevelopment in the actual directive.
But I wanted you to understand how all of these directives are not done in isolation.
It's all tied, it's all integrated together.
And so when we're working on these directives and responding to them,
