And so we want to make sure that we're doing it strategically, thoughtfully, you know, and intentionally.
And so you have the first one, which is really about the redevelopment tools, which is really this presentation is responsive to that.
But we have the target industry study where we're looking at emerging technologies.
One of
that target industry study will hopefully be kicking off in the new year.
But that could really play a major part in creating employment opportunities in these redevelopment areas.
So when we're writing the scope of work and engaging the right consultant to bring on board, we want them to be thinking not just in our traditional areas, but redevelopment.
What are some of those industry sectors that would make sense for those areas?
The revolving loan fund is geared towards housing and small business.
That is looking at working with Prince William Water and using water sewer credits as to help offset risk and cost for small businesses and redevelopment.
This, again,
can apply in redevelopment areas and be very instrumental in helping to offset some of those barriers.
The last one, the allocate the $250,000 for consultant on land assembly strategy, that is already, you already made a decision about that, that is in
our budget for this fiscal year.
After this presentation and getting your feedback, we will be moving forward with hiring a consultant so that we understand truly the scope of work that we're asking them to do in looking at that land assemblage strategy.
One of the things also, and well, my planning department people left, but I saw them earlier, is there's always, I don't want to say confusion, but sometimes I think folks go to planning and sometimes they go to economic development.
We work very comprehensively together but just I wanted to kind of set the stage that really planning sets that vision and the zoning.
They're the ones that are working on the small area plans and looking at all of that stuff and they conduct that community engagement at the ground level to get that feedback from the community.
Then we take those plans and we're essentially implementing them into reality.
