Frankly, it never actually needs to be contentious.
You can ask the direct questions without being an a-hole, for lack of a better term.
And so it doesn't need to be contentious, but you're right.
Because we have had political figures, and let's just be very clear, I'm talking about Donald Trump and people who have subscribed to Trumpism, who have elected to follow in his footsteps or try to take it further.
The adversarial interview is now more of the norm than I think it used to be.
Now, sometimes politicians lie, okay?
Democrats lie, Republicans lie.

People get out here with policies and say they're going to do something, and they're not telling the truth, okay?
And then they have to go sit down and interview, and we got to sit there and say, now.
I know.
Now, Mr. So-and-so.
Now, Madam X. I know you said X, Y, and Z.
But the data says, okay, the people say.
Oh, it sounds like the Times is upset that they didn't get the interview.
And some people won't like that I said that.
Or they're gunning for a Donald Trump presidency.
Look, here's the reality.
