Like, I have prepped Joe Biden for interviews with you and sat down and been in the back when he had done an interview with you.

And I'm like, crap.

And Don's going to go through the interview because he's not done with his questions.

And Joe Biden was going to continue to answer because that's not a public service.

It was usually him going on.

Yes, he would talk through my rap.

And it's like, well, sir, it's your interview, so go ahead.

But when you prep a principal for an interview and then the principal, the person, sits down for an interview, one of the, just frankly, tools and tactics as a comms person is that –

you go over with your person, with your principal.

In the prep, they say they might ask this.

And you have to decide if you want to answer their question or if you want to stay on what you're talking about.

And the ways in which that comes across and that happens, sometimes it is evasive and the principal is actually, the person is not answering the question at all.

And then it's on the interviewer to redirect and kind of pin them down.

Or sometimes they hit on it, but then there's a little bit of a pivot or they speak to a broader issue.

And

It seems fine.

Like, I think what the criticism from The Times is, is that she didn't answer the question exactly.

And I'm like, and you know what?

I'd be fine, actually, if that was The Times' consistent criticism.

But when Donald Trump is asked about what his plan is for child care at the New York Economic Club, and his answer is, I'm going to institute tariffs on China and everybody, but really China, and like 15%, maybe 20% tariffs, and the tariffs are going to pay for the child care.
