Those people who are looking uh for the probability of rate cut between uh say uh July and say that September meeting, uh, you you're really looking at well, how is the labour market performing?

And I think in that respect, jobless claims this week is continue to get a lot of focus.

When you look at continuing claims, they're a little bit elevated, but if you take it as a share of population, it's not all that elevated whatsoever.

But there are some indications in the US labor market, uh, such as jolts that suggest um hiring.

Has definitely slowed down.

And then you're seeing unemployment rates for graduates being relatively high as well.

So I think Barken called this a low hiring, low-firing equilibrium.

But at the same time, Barken is also in no rush to cut rates.

So when you look at market pricing, it hasn't really moved that much.

So Fed funds pricing for cuts by the end of 2025.

There's 51.4 basis points of cuts priced in.

That's up slightly from 48.1 basis points of cuts on Wednesday.

So not huge market moves in response to all that fair talk, which really just illustrates the diversity of opinion on the F M C at the moment.

Yes, well in fact uh President Trump did tweet on uh on Friday.

He also tweeted uh uh sorry, I should say truth.

I think they call it truthing on truth social.

Um and he also did that on Saturday and uh he said we should be um two hundred and fifty basis points lower.

Um so no doubt uh he speaks to the House on what what is it, Tuesday and then the Senate on Wednesday.

Uh no doubt a few people will be questioning um about the tightness of monetary policy there as well.
