Uh and so the China's Commerce Ministry said in a statement that it had noted senior US officials uh repeatedly expressing their willingness to talk to Beijing about tariffs and urged official sho officials in Wash uh in Washington to show sincerity towards.
China.
So uh that really saw um equity futures higher.
So uh into uh the the US session, US equity futures were already up about one point one percent.
And when you look at the SP five hundred it rose one point five percent.
Okay.
So a lot of the moves is really coming from the optimism uh or potential optimism around uh US China tensions.
and as you say, actions do speak louder than words here.
And uh in that respect, there have been two separate um actions uh occurring, which is giving um some investors out there a little bit of hope uh that that there is some kind of endpoint.
And that endpoint might be the campaign rhetoric that uh President Trump had uh in his campaign, which was to put a ten percent across the board tariff and about a sixty percent tariff on on China.
Uh and so one of those um
Things that has been occurring.
Bloomberg reported that China started to exempt some US imports from tariffs, and that represents around forty billion, which I think it is about a quarter of uh Chinese imports from the US.
And then separately, a Wall Street Journal article noted that uh Beijing had approached the Trump administration to ask what changes the US was seeking in relation to the production of the precursor chemicals they used to make fentanyl.
And if you recall, uh
20 percentage points of that 145% tariff or so on China, 20% points of that is um is the US imposed those uh in reaction, at least the justification was in regards to tackling fantanal.
So uh it looks like there's some action being taken, or at least um the initiation of action um to address some of those issues.
Yes, and I guess that's the um markets and NLSB trying to come to grips with well, what is the endpoint or what is the goal of the imposition of tariffs?
And uh three different justifications have been given uh by the various US administration officials over the past couple of months.
So one of them was to raise revenue, uh one of them was to bring manufacturing back home, uh, and um the other one was to um uh
