That's kind of the third consecutive day that we've seen a bit of a chel sell off in in chip stocks that were kind of dragging down uh US equities in particular.
Um Nvidia was down, you know, around around
five percent.
And as you say there, the kind of new news on that front seemed to be some kind of you know additional AI financing news and and in particular a $250 billion backstop from Nvidia for a an open AI data center, which is kind of put those kind of potential circular financing uh concerns back in the spotlight.
Um there were some other developments there on on the chip front.
There was a report from the information that uh a Chinese staked back
company has started mass producing deep ultraviolet lithography tools.
So that's the the niche that ASML is is pretty comfortable uh occupying at at the moment.
And so you know their shares were were lower as well in in the chip space.
Yeah, so I think when you look at those durable goods numbers, as as you say, the kind of the headline number below uh consensus, the the ex transportation number is probably the the better one to to focus on.
Um it was up point six percent.
That was a touch below consensus for point eight, but but only just and there were some positive net revisions as well.
But yeah, that that swing in the in transportation orders is um certainly meaning that the kind of the net result for this, if we think
about the read through to to second quarter GDP numbers that are are released uh later this week on on Thursday, um, you know, does we did see the Atlanta Feds GDP now tracking estimate um come down a tenth to to 1.6% on a seasonally adjusted annual rate for that one.
So, you know, that drag from transportation um durable goods orders always volatile, but um noticeable.
And you know, if we think about the the run up to that
uh GDP data later this week.
We've got uh trade data coming up, which, you know, is expected to confirm a very large drag from from trade in in the quarter.
Um, but just how large will will be key as we head into that data on Thursday.
Yeah, and so I think, you know, what we've seen there is that it's it's some signs of optimism or at least less pessimism about about the outlook that that drove that game.
