Yeah, and I think, you know, this is the balance that all all central banks are are facing and those starting points um, you know, obviously matter and and the you know, the the softness in the the UK labour market, that the you know, a little bit of slower growth trajectory, private sector wages that that haven't looked too too threatening, even as public sector wages growth remains a a bit elevated, all of that means that, you know, the the Bank of England is uh doesn't feel particularly pressured to to rush to to hikes in the short term.
But
But you know, it's certain but you know, those comments from from Bailey also make clear that, you know, it means that while those risks are are still elevated, it's difficult to to see cuts as well.
Yeah, so you know, small small gains on on Friday, but certainly when you look over the month, it's been, you know, pretty strong performance from from US in in particular.
S P five hundred up five point two percent, the Nasdaq up up ten percent.
And that reflecting kind of how important that tech story and AI story has has been to to this um, you know, strength in in equities then within the S P five hundred IT stocks are up almost sixteen percent over over the month.
So certainly that that
That I I A AI story is a a key feature of that, this kind of, you know, growing optimism uh that we might see some um some resolution or or um at least uh easing in in the situation in in the Middle East is is a bit of a support, but yeah, it is that AI story and and strength in corporate earnings that that has been a a big factor in the the strength of
Now
Yeah, so the the monthly number was was negative in Germany.
Um, you know, and but what's what's what's happening there is is volatility around those those fuel prices and there was a a reduction in um in tax on on fuel in Germany as well that was contributing to that.
So that was all all playing a role, but certainly the case that that German number it was just the preliminary number, so there's not a huge amount of of detail in that.
But certainly the the regional data out of out of Germany does suggest that
the you know lower fuel prices in the month did uh play a role there.
Um but if we think about, you know, what the what the the you know the the broader country level data we got fr on on Friday for for Europe ahead of that um Eurozone wide number on Tuesday, so we're saying that kind of, you know, outside of of Germany, certainly in um in in Spain and and Italy, there was, you know, not not so much of a downside surprise evidence and those preliminary core measures.
where they exist uh did kind of cre creep a little bit higher as well.
So, you know, not nothing to suggest that the that German number kind of concl completely changes the picture on what the signal's likely to be um on Tuesday.
Yeah, well I think the certainly the you know the the labour market and the the strength in the the the IP number, none of that is arguing against the the Bank of Japan continuing to to normalise policy a little bit further and there's still around twenty basis points of of price of hikes priced um from the Bank of Japan at at the June June meeting.
So uh you know that expectation continues to firm.
We've got the the Bank of Japan Governor later speaking on on Wednesday um that is, you know
