activity is actually like on the ground at the moment.
And confidence is a bit fuzzier, how people are feeling, you know, concerns about the outlook, reflecting uncertainty.
And so conditions is probably that better near-term signal on what activity is doing.
And, you know, the story there, you see it in profitability, you see it in trading conditions.
We saw it improving alongside the pickup in activity.
And then we've seen it easing back over the past few months.
And we've seen it be more resilient in the face of this shock than conditions has been.
So the cost measures in the survey have also told a pretty interesting story as this kind of shock from the Middle East and fuel prices has echoed through.
We saw again all of those measures of cost, whether it's input costs for businesses, but also the prices that they're charging their customers.
They all jumped.
They all reflected some pass-through.
But I think the point here that there has been some slowing in the economy is
conditions it's been more resilient but it's certainly slowed from where it was late 2025. you're seeing in cost measures as well that output prices seem to have fallen back a bit more quickly than those input cost pressures has so that says to us that you know it's challenging environment for profitability margins are under a little bit of pressure and that demand environment it's not trivial for businesses to get all of these cost pressures that are there all the way downstream and certainly when you look at those cost measures
It is saying that the magnitude of the shock and those initial cost pressures, what they were like back in March, they've continued to fade.
And then on the retail prices side?
Yeah.
So retail prices, again, has shown a similar story where you saw those input cost pressures.
And then later, as we moved through April and May, we saw it showing up further down and closer to those prices that end consumers face.
And we saw a big jump in retail prices in May.
Encouragingly, that's reversed in June.
